Mijas

The municipality of Mijas, is located on the beautiful Costa del Sol, between Malaga and Marbella.

The village is made up of three urban centres: Mijas Pueblo is located at the foot of the Sierra at an altitude of 430 m, Las Lagunas is the most modern part of the municipality, connected to Fuengirola, and La Cala is right by the sea with more than 12 km of coastline, where the municipality offers a large number of beaches for all tastes.

Mijas Pueblo

Mijas Pueblo is one of the most beautiful villages in Andalusia, a village in the mountains that has retained the typical charm of the white villages of Andalusia.

The maze of narrow, cobbled streets with whitewashed houses, punctuated at every turn by colourful flower pots and hundreds of flowers on the balconies, is an image that will stay with us for a long time. The beautiful church of the Immaculate Conception is located in the former centre of Mijas. It was built in the 16th century on the remains of an old Arab mosque, whose mudéjar tower served as a bell tower. The church has three naves separated by semicircular arches supported by Tuscan columns, and two side chapels under which there are crypts with tombs. It houses eight wonderful frescoes of the Apostles from the Baroque period.

Some of the most significant places in the village are the Ermita de la Virgen de la Peña hermitage and the Mirador del Compás viewpoint, from which you can enjoy breathtaking views. We can also visit the Castle of the Walls to stroll through its gardens and walk along the walls of an old 15th century castle, declared a Cultural Monument in 1985.
